These are for putting the final touches on the bottom of deep bowls where a regular gouge can not reach. Some people call these dogleg gouges.
The 2.5" sweep is more generally useful and gives a smooth finish to bowls with rounded bottoms.
The 4.3” sweep gives a smoother finish on bowls with really flat bottoms.
The sweep number indicates the circle diameter the blades curve fits. Blades are about 1 ½" wide.
